Thanks
for stopping by to meet me! Below is a bit of my story.
To see what I'm currently up to, check out my
blog.
I
have always loved animals, and birds in particular, ever
since I was little. There was always a special connection,
and animals of all sorts seemed to be drawn to me, and
I to them. I grew up in the Philippines and had some unusual
pets, besides the normal cats and dogs; I had pet goats,
pigs, native lizzards, and chickens. I would have loved
to have a monkey too, but my parents had to draw the line
somewhere!
My
dream to have a parrot finally came true when I purchased
a cockatiel at age 11. I began learning as much about
parrots as I could and have been fascinated with them
ever since. Since then I have had other birds through
the years, from a finch to a rescued blue and gold macaw.
I was blessed to have an amazing and incredibly special
Eclectus parrot for several years, who impacted my life
tremendously. Sadly, he passed away from a perforated
gizzard, which was a heartbreaking loss. To read his story,
visit my tribute: MEMORIES
OF MUGSY.
I
now have two gorgeous feathered friends that bring me
so much joy and laughter. Both are Soloman Island Eclectus
Parrots, and I cannot imagine life without them! Besides
their stunning beauty, they constantly amaze me with their
intelligence and wonderful personalities. Please go to
the RESIDENT MODELS
page to meet Killian and Kaleena, who are the inspiration
for my work!
Well,
I can't leave out my furry friends! I have three adorable
poodles, who were all adopted from various situations,
some very sad. They have each come a long way and are
all healthy and happy now. Thankfully, they are wonderful
and gentle around birds. They all get along beautifully
and bring so much happiness to my life!
In
the 1990s, at a particularly difficult time with my health,
I discovered polymer clay and began sculpting ART
DOLLS. I was thrilled to find something fun that I
could do, even with my limited energy. Shortly after,
I began sculpting parrot jewelry as well. I also started
figuring out how to create websites and opened ParrotJewelry.com
and have been amazed and thrilled with the response to
my work! Who would have ever thought I would stay so busy
making parrot jewelry?
As
the years have passed, the demand for my custom parrot
jewelry has grown by leaps and bounds, and because of
this I am forced to limit the number of orders that I
take every month, in order to keep up with them all. I
try my best to have my order form open for a short period
of time every month if possible. Be sure to join my email
newsletter/update list (on the left hand menu) if you
want to stay informed and be notified when I am open for
orders.
Also,
I have opened a shop
on Etsy.com, and put some of my more whimsical artwork
and non-bird items there when time allows, so be sure
to take a look if you would like to see some of my other
creations that are currently for sale. This is a great
place to purchase my work that is available for immediate
purchase, or check my Parrot Jewelry
Inventory page.
I
believe that my passion for parrots is evident in my work-
I truly LOVE creating unique jewelry for other bird lovers,
it is a "dream job" indeed. I have met so many
wonderful people through my work! Many customers have
gone on to become my dearest friends, which is something
I am most grateful for!
Though
I still deal with chronic illness and health challenges,
which can slow up the wait for your orders at times, I
feel very blessed to be able to do something that I truly
love and enjoy, and I am happy to share my work with you.
